Why not just change to an led bulb

  3. Home Sweet Home Ideas on September 15, 2022 at 3:59 am

    Great instructional.  Very detailed!  Thanks…

I installed three of these into existing cans in my house. They’re very good. But I bought them at Home Depot.

    Do dimmable LED’s "buzz"??

  7. Dmitry Leshchenko on September 15, 2022 at 4:05 am

Typical light out for LED is 80 -140 Lm per watt. (Depends on led current). Your power supply takes 5% so 14 w – 0.7 w = 13.3 w. If you calculate your Lm per watt you will get 650/13.3= 49Lm . It is very bad result. According to lamp Lm output it has 9 watt chip inside. Why Cree put 14 watt label on it? How about color temperature? Is it cold white?

that’s great! if your housing has the ears… mine doesn’t… grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Just used this video instruction to install 5 lights that are essentially identical to the one in the video.  Very helpful as a couple of steps, such as removing the socket from the socket plate, were new me.  Love the power of the internet.

I actually just found another one of your videos and I found my answer, now I just need to find compression clips as my unit did not include them…thank you

Not bad but it looks intrusive into the room. The best recessed lighting is actualy recessed not just flush. It looks like a thin cealing light

  12. Nora Hill on September 15, 2022 at 4:12 am

Brilliant! I was worried about removing the socket bracket, because the instructions didn’t show that. The GE light I got at Sam’s Club wouldn’t fit in the can with the bracket still in place. Thanks!

Great video. Thanks for the help. The instructions that came with the product did not show the removal of the old light.

Was the ground nut attached to the ground in the house or just the housing of the recessed light? I want to do the retrofit but I don’t wanna make it a fire hazard by attaching the ground to a random nut.

  15. Bridget Valleley on September 15, 2022 at 4:12 am

We were about to give up on our new lights until we watched your video and figured it out! Thank you for your time in putting this together.

Will this work for these kinds of recessed lights? https://1drv.ms/u/s!AieImSkqRXl7leAw5vhbpW3R5ixoMg

This video helped a lot. Thank you

  18. calferath Geah on September 15, 2022 at 4:27 am

No sure why you would even take out what you already had. To me the retrofit is a downgrade. You already had a socket there to where you can put any LED bulb in there. If something goes wrong with the retrofit you have to replace the whole thing.

what if there are no ears?

  20. anne nonneemouse on September 15, 2022 at 4:29 am

can’t you leave the socket plate in place?

  21. aPlateOfGrapes on September 15, 2022 at 4:31 am

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I watched many videos and no one showed where those springs went.

  22. James Rogers on September 15, 2022 at 4:33 am

Thank for the tutorial. Once you explained the "ears" I was able finish the installation.

Hello, to install a Cree CR6 Six-Inch LED Downlight, you would connect the Cree at around 3:12, by simply screwing the Cree socket into the existing socket, right?

  24. Joshua Bailey on September 15, 2022 at 4:41 am

    no ground?

  25. David Dabrow on September 15, 2022 at 4:42 am

Thanks for the tip about the wing nut. Disaster avoided

  26. AwesomeSuper123 on September 15, 2022 at 4:45 am

If the housing has no ears , what do the clips hook onto? I didn’t see this in the video.I am attempting a refit and the unit keeps falling out..thanks

  27. Steven De Leon on September 15, 2022 at 4:46 am

Well done Sr. I replaced 6 of them in my house. However, they won’t stay on for more than a minute. Any good advice you could provide. Greatly Appreciated.

    Great video. Thank you.

  29. Michael Neal on September 15, 2022 at 4:55 am

Instructions worked like a charm…I had no ground wire (presume it is integrated in the capsule) and my "can" had the ears as described…I give the video a ’10’

  30. Yaly Keokanock on September 15, 2022 at 4:55 am

Thank you very much for your demo video. My husband and I wanted to change our current recess lighting with led but was not sure how to do it therefore, your video made my husband very happy.

  31. Eric Goss on September 15, 2022 at 4:56 am

you didnt show how you connected the ground wire, my 1 question and reason for having watched this

  32. Flipper Dave on September 15, 2022 at 4:56 am

    Is the ground wire necessary?
