YOU’RE GOING TO BRAZIL!!!!!!!!!!!!
The bubbling sound is funny, but let’s not kid ourselves here; what the commercial is trying to prove is that Philips Longer Life square bulbs last longer than ordinary incandescent light bulbs, up to 33% longer.
Don’t have to be in the world

You know it’s very good when it takes an hour to search out on Youtube, and you’re glad for the effort…

I just quoted this and my husband had no idea what I was talking about. Thanks for putting this up here so I could convince him this was a real commercial.
Commercial philips 1980’s lamp
To me, this is still possibly the funniest commercial ever.
Thanks for sharing! 😀
I thought it was funny when it first aired even though since I was very young, I didn’t grasp the "bedroom" meaning.
This is classic! Â If I had a favorite commercial this would be it.
do you remember the one with the cat and the vacuum cleaner?
1987
oh the magic’s gone the minute lights go out you fall asleep
Bulb: d e d
I saw this when it was new (I was in high school at the time) and I STILL talk about it as the funniest commercial I’ve EVER seen.

There was one that I liked even better. Two old night-watchmen are huddled under a single light bulb in the middle of the night. In a heavy east-coast accent, one is reading to the other from a romance novel. The passage went something like this: "… and as Lord Calvert stared into the inviting eyes of Lady Jamison and caressed her perfectly formed lips, he whispered softly…" At this point the light bulb goes out, and the night watchman says,"I can’t see a thing." The other night watchman says, "Lord Calvert was blind?" I still laugh about this commercial. In fact, the last line has become a punch line in my family’s lexicon. I’ve tried to find it on the Internet with no luck. Any ideas where I could find this classic piece of advertising?
Al and Peg Bundy in 2022.
That was Hilarious!!!!! Go Frank Ciraci!
The dying lightbulb sound made me LOL horrendously at the time: ‘BULLSH!!’
Love the one with the cat and the vacuum. Someone please post!!!

@ilovetogofast88 This was one of the first commercials I had seen after returning home after two years overseas. I never laughed so hard in my entire life.

you know it’s a good commercial when the folks (& yourself) quote it for at least the next 10 years.
